What Kind of History will you make in 2019?

With the start of the New Year many of you may have a list of New Year’s Resolutions, I know I do! Some of the most popular New Year Resolutions are to lose weight, eat healthier, stop a bad habit, reduce stress, and travel more.

Here at the Osceola County Historical Society we would like to challenge everyone to add at least one of the following resolutions to your 2019 List! Help us make history happen!

  1. Volunteer Your Time

The Osceola County Historical Society has a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.

GREETER & DOCENT: We are looking for friendly faces who will welcome visitors, give tours of our facilities, and engage in conversations on local history. This position attends both the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum and the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek.

SPECIAL EVENTS & OUTREACH: Help us engage with our Central Florida community through off-site outreach events. This position also offers involvement in our Pioneer Day and Dine with the Departed special events.

OFFICE ASSISTANT: Help our Marketing and Development team with their day to day duties. This position offers networking and outreach experience.

FIELD-TRIP ATTENDANTS: Assist in the education of future generations. Attendants give a short presentation of an assigned area of the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek and supervise children in a period appropriate activity.

GARDENER: This position maintains the gardens, footpaths, and trees around the Pioneer Village. Knowledge of native Floridian plants and horticulture is preferred.

Volunteering is a great way to gain a new skill, make new friends and get involved in the community.

  1. Become a Member of the Osceola County Historical Society

Showing your support to your local Non-Profit is a wonderful giveback and a great way to start the year off right! What a better way than becoming a member of the Osceola County Historical Society! There are different membership levels available to choose from with the “Family” Membership being the most popular. With each membership you’ll enjoy free admission to the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek, discounts on merchandise, and much more. Be part of History by becoming a member today!

  1. Make a Donation

There are a million ways to donate to the Osceola County Historical Society. Rest assured that your donation, whether it be an artifact, cash, or your time spent volunteering with us, will first and foremost be greatly appreciated. Secondly, the support you share with OCHS not only helps the organization grow, but also allows us to continue our mission: To collect and preserve the county’s history, and provide educational, research, and recreational opportunities to foster an understanding of the area’s cultural and natural heritage for residents and visitors. All donations are tax deductible.
