FISCAL YEAR 2017/2018 CHAPTER PLAN

 

Vision 

To promote passion for preservation of the unique history of the Narcoossee Area.

Mission 

The Narcoossee Area Chapter of OCHS seeks to restore and preserve the circa 1886 schoolhouse, and to collect, preserve, and share the Narcoossee Area's rich history.

Core Beliefs

  • Our area history is worth preserving.
  • Through our history, we define ourselves and our community.
  • Knowing and sharing our history enriches our community and the experiences of those residing or visiting here.

 

Accomplishments & Goals

  1. Acquired Narcoossee Schoolhouse from Osceola County and 99 year lease on property.  (December 2013)
  2. Ongoing Fundraising for restoration and preservation goals through community BBQs, and art, crafts, and food fairs.
  3. Awarded Small Matching Grant from State of Florida for $26,500.00 for historic schoolhouse exterior restoration.  (July 2015)  Exterior restoration completed July 2016.
  4. Awarded Small Matching Grant from State of Florida for $7,500.00 for historic Schoolhouse interior restoration.  (July 2016)  Interior restoration completed June 2017.
  5. Sponsor of History Club at Narcoossee Middle School.

 

2017-2018 Key Goals

  • To acquire and install period furnishings in the historic Narcoossee Schoolhouse.
  • To install the donor brick display at the schoolhouse grounds.
