Education Field Trips

Pioneer Adventure - Bring a Class to visit our Pioneer Center. Call Phil Jackson at (407) 396-8644 to make arrangements in advance.

OCHS’s field trip program are open to all schoolchildren, public, private and home schools. Students who visit the Pioneer Village for the Pioneer Adventure get a first hand look at what the lives of the early pioneers of Florida were like. Students are given personal tours by our museum docents, a sampling of foods typically grown by the pioneers, and can participate in a learning scavenger hunt during their visit.

Cowboy Campfire - An evening under the stars around a real Cracker Cowboy Campfire complete with story telling of the real pioneer cattlemen who forged their way through the palmettos and swamps to make Osceola County what it is today. There are open discussions between the storytellers and the students.
School and Scout Programs

History Alive! - Bringing History Alive in the classroom! our storytellers come in to the class with a trunk full of artifacts for students to experience.

Young Friends of the Society - A high school level history club for all those interested in local history. Students choose projects to work on, fund raise for their project and work with the Historical Society on various projects throughout the year.

History Badges - This Scout Program encompasses our Pioneer Village as well as our 8-acre nature preserve. Scouts of varying ages complete scavenger hunts as well as other various activities and acquire special badges created for the Pioneer Village and nature Preserve.

Continuing Education Programs

OCHS sponsors Continuing Education Programs for children and adults throughout the year. Call Phil Jackson at (407) 396-8644 for upcoming programs to to design special programs for your group.
