Amid some controversy, our first Dine with the Departed was held on March 13, 2010 in historic Rose Hill Cemetery. The decision was made by the Osceola County Historical Society to host something different – not the usual ghost tour, generally occurring in October, but to present an educational evening, striving to raise funds for the organization.

This idea sounded crazy to me the first time I heard it until I learned a little more about Dine with the Departed and had a chance to experience it for myself.

When it comes to the Young Friends of the Osceola County Historical Society, they’ve got one goal in mind for their organization—raising money to award a scholarship to an Osceola County high school senior who is majoring in history or museum studies or has volunteered at least 40 hours with the historical society.

When it comes to how they raise their money for this scholarship, they have one theme behind their fundraising—a little mingling mixed with adult beverages (for those who are 21 and up of course!).

Throughout the year they host various Historic Happy Hours and once a year they host their annual Pub Crawl.
